This patent image was created by using U.S. Patent #US 625,055 Beer Bottle Cap (Sealing Device) was patented in 1899 by William Painter. This innovative beer bottle cap system pressed the cap into the neck of the bottle making a permanent attachment to the bottle. It was then opened by removing the center portion of the cap. This is an early precursor to the now common pull tab system used in modern beer and soda cans.
