This patent image was created by using U.S. Patent #US 513,876 Billiard (Pool) Ball was patented in 1894 by its inventor George H. Burt. This Victorian era billiards patent represented a complete redesign of the pool balls to solve the problem of the colored stripe and number wearing off with repeated play. Burt solved the problem by building the balls with several discrete parts that were solid colors throughout that could not wear off.
