This patent image was created by using U.S. Patent #US 3,686,995 Tuba (Brass Wind Instrument) patented in 1972 by Fred J. Marzan. The patent demonstrates a four valved brass wind instrument having a main tuning slide which is located to be easily accessible and manipulated by the player's left hand during a performance. It is also designed so that the valve assembly is easily accessible by the fingers of the right hand. Also, the fourth valve is equipped with two auxiliary slides to allow the valve pitch to be raised/lowered, eliminating the need for a fifth valve.
