This patent image was created by using U.S. Patent #US 1,553,340 Hot Air Balloon patented in 1925 by its inventor Ralph H. Upson. This patent offered many improvements in the sport of ballooning. Design improvements allowed a construction shape that would allow balloonists to reach greater heights, increase the stability of the balloon and improve its ability to shed rain and snow, making it safer if it runs into adverse weather.
