Self Digging Military Tank Patent Print Art Poster
This patent image was created by using U.S. Patent #US 2,705,378 Self Digging Military Tank patented in 1955 by its inventor Robert H Wendt. This fascinating tank offered many interesting design innovations. First, it could actually dig a hole underneath itself, burying the entire bottom half of the tank, to gain additional cover - making it a sort of stealth tank. Second, it could turn without moving by lowering a drive mechanism to the ground and spinning on that - allowing it to literally turn on a dime and gain valuable targeting time in combat situations.
